Developed by Supergiant Games, Bastion turned heads at this year’s E3 (check out Game Rant’s hands-on) thanks to a beautiful art style, tight controls and a genuinely entertaining narrator who actively narrates your every action. Slated as part of Xbox Live’s Summer Of Arcade promotion, gamers have been eagerly awaiting the chance to get their hands on the title.

According to the developers, PC gamers also have reason to be excited.

Speaking with Eurogamer, creative director of Supergiant Games, Greg Casavin stated that:

While no solid release date has been given, a 2011 release for the PC version of the game is assured. For gamers who had been hoping that Bastion would eventually see a release on the PSN, it’s disappointing to hear that this may never become a reality. Even though Casavin’s answer is neither a yes or a no, it would still be quite a bit of time before the PS3 version of the game would be ready.

Despite the fact that PS3 gamers will no doubt feel left out, it’s a welcome notion that Supergiant Games is hard at work properly developing Bastion for the PC rather than simply porting it over. This is one of the most over-looked aspects of the gaming industry. No matter how strong a given title may be, a lazy port can completely ruin the gaming experience that is presented. It’s refreshing to hear that developers are putting so much effort into properly optimizing their games for other platforms.

Even though it may still be quite a wait before PC gamers can get their hands on Bastion and even longer if a PS3 version sees the light of day, the game’s release on the XBLA is almost here and will no doubt be one of the most talked-about arcade titles to release this year. If you can’t stand to wait any longer, check out the recent launch trailer.

Are you excited to see Bastion coming to the PC? Do you think there is any chance of a PS3 release?

Bastion releases on the Xbox Live Arcade on July 20, 2011 and will see a release on PC by the end of the year.
