With Battlefield 3 on the way, and with as many pre-orders as it has, PC gamers will probably want to do a quick check of their computers to see if everything’s up to date for the game’s release. Thankfully, a checklist of the expected requirements for your systems has surfaced for your convenience. It may not be official, but it should cover most of the needed specs.
Battlefield 3 is said to have similar requirements to its predecessor, Bad Company 2 - mainly due to the fact that it’s powered by an updated version of the Frostbite engine, Frostbite 2.0. As such, it should play much the same as Bad Company 2 did, but it should be noted that it won’t be supporting DirecX 9, so it can’t run on Windows XP.
Recommended system requirements are as follows:
Windows 7 64-bit OS
Quad-Core CPU processor
4 GB memory
20 GB hard drive
DirectX 11 graphics card compatible with 1024 MB RAM, such as Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 or ATI Radeon 6950
DirectX compatible sound card
mouse and keyboard
DVD-ROM drive
The minimum system requirements are:
Windows Vista 32-bit OS
2 GHz Dual Core processor, such as Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz, or Althon X2 2.7 GHz
2 GB memory
20 GB hard drive
if using AMD graphics card, should be DirectX 10.1 compatible with 512 MB RAM, such as ATI Radeon 3000, 4000, 5000 or 6000, with ATI Radeon 3870 or higher
if using Nvidia graphics card, should be DirectX 10.0 compatible with 512 MB RAM, such as Nvidia GeForce 8, 9, 200, 300, 400 or 500, with Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT or higher
DirectX compatible sound card
mouse and keyboard
DVD-ROM drive
It’s safe to say Battlefield 3 will be a h0t-seller on its release, with a free copy of Dead Space 2 coming with a pre-order certainly helping there. If you’re still on the fence, you can always try the beta when it’s released.
Will you be making any updates to your PC for Battlefield 3?
Battlefield 3 releases October 25th for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
