Of the four maps coming to the game, two are from the original Battlefield Bad Company. As we predicted earlier, Oasis will be returning with some improvements. Additionally, the popular Harvest Day map will be returning. The other two maps, Cold War and Heavy Metal, are brand new and originated from the single player modes of the game. We will have a full feature on what is to be the largest Battlefield map, Heavy Metal, ever created on Wednesday.

Battlefield Bad Company 2’s level designer, Cristian Pavel, provided some inside information on Battlefields Blog that alludes to what updates will be seen in the latest VIP map pack. When asked how the Oasis map would be upgraded with the new features, Pavel stated there were not many changes.

Now that Destruction 2.o has been implemented into the game, Oasis’ gold crates (now M- COM stations) will be placed outside of buildings or on the first floor, apposed to the rooftops. This will be due to the ability to have entire buildings collapse after taking enough damage. DICE has also raised the city’s flat streets, which will now include a hillside like urban area in Arica Harbor.
