From Battlefield 2, the currently hot (and still growing) Battlefield 3 and the upcoming Battlefield 4 (beta begins next year), the core franchise is steamrolling ahead thanks to DICE’s Frostbite 2 engine, while fans eagerly await a sequel to the two Bad Company games. That’s a lot of shooting and multiplayer mayhem for just 10 years and if you need to get caught up, do we have good news for you. For today only, anyway.
As part of the 10-year celebration, today only on Origin, users can purchase any one of the following games/bundles for $10 only. For some odd reason, Bad Company 2 and the Vietnam expansion are sold separate at $10 each when they can all be purchased together as part of the Deluxe Edition, so be cautious of that.

The game that started it all, Battlefield 1942, actually launched on September 10th of 2002 in North America and September 20th (today!) in Europe. With Battlefield 3: Armored Kill releasing on September 11th for PC premium subscribers, the promotion was timed intentionally with the European date as to not overlap marketing.
The plan for the week is for DICE to share fun content each day until September 28th to look back on the franchise and how they got to where they are today.

We’ll update this post later today when DICE posts the original BF1942 trailer with commentary by Senior Video Producer Roland Smedberg, as they discuss how back then, most game trailers didn’t sell themselves using gameplay footage. That’s something Battlefield 3 has led the industry in since its unveiling. See for yourself:
