When we got our first look at Robin, it was clear that Rocksteady Studios had done a great deal of work making the campy sidekick fit into the much darker and gritty reality of Arkham City. A black and white piece of advertising artwork can only do so much though, and now the developer has given a few more details on the reasoning behind the pre-order-bonus Robin’s rougher appearance, and what distinguishes their version from what fans may be used to....

The online promotion advertising unlockable downloadable content allowing players to embody the Boy Wonder in Arkham City hasn’t been confirmed by the developers just yet, but the hopes of comic book fans everywhere have already been raised. Whether Best Buy jumped the gun or was given faulty information to begin with, it seems likely that while Robin may not be joining Batman on his more-than-lengthy singleplayer campaign, the crimson kid will be giving players a new character with which to tackle some challenge maps....

Topping their previous two games will be no easy task for Rocksteady, but they’re clearly swinging for the fences in several aspects of the game. We got a chance to test drive the Batmobile’s Battle Mode at E3 2014, but the developers promise that the desire to bring new content for fans will be found throughout the experience, and we now have a few more examples to look forward to....

[HTML1] The focus on Batman video games may have shifted completely to the next-gen Arkham Knight , but Warner Bros. would like fans to remember that there is still some downloadable content coming for the tale of Bruce Wayne’s early days in the cape and cowl. The ‘Cold, Cold Heart’ DLC for Batman: Arkham Origins arrives on April 22, and to show what kind of chilling action awaits, the developers have provided a walkthrough video as part of their latest DC All Access....

So far, however, there has been quite a lot to look forward to. The game is set on the streets of Gotham with a Batman who is relatively inexperienced and still trying to leave his mark on the city. Luckily this inexperience doesn’t seem to have much impact upon his fighting skills. VG247’s recent preview of Arkham Origins and interview with creative director Eric Holmes cuts to the heart of the game’s set-up and, in particular, the nature of each of the characters in a setting that comes years before both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City....

Unfortunately, Batman fans are being forced to wait a a little longer for the game, as Arkham Knight has been delayed several times. Last year it was one of many games delayed to 2015 (a list which also included The Division and Battlefield Hardline), but then it was delayed again from June 2nd to June 23rd. However, developer Rocksteady Studios did apologize for the extra delay by releasing a new gameplay video that saw Batman work with Oracle to rescue a downed officer....

The video game industry is notoriously competitive, with publishers constantly monitoring one another to see how they can outdo their peers. For instance, earlier this year, it was uncovered that there is a dedicated team over at Microsoft whose sole purpose is to review third party releases for an internal audience. They do this to keep abreast of the latest trends, identify any cutting-edge features that Xbox can imitate, and to highlight mistakes that should be avoided at all costs....

While speaking with Gamer, a Norwegian game magazine, DICE executive producer Patrick Bach made it clear that Battlefield 3 “will have the largest maps we have ever made”. This is in contrast to Call of Duty’s smaller maps, which are geared toward shorter sessions of play. Large maps is nothing new to the Battlefield series and DICE is planning on pushing the envelope even farther with the new Frostbite 2....

Luckily for Battlefield 4, a decidedly self-aware approach to post-release content has helped the game avoid some of those admittedly valid criticisms. Somehow the team at DICE LA has found a way to balance the bombastic with the slightly absurd, like putting a Megalodon in the middle of a map. However, with Battlefield 4’s DLC tour on its last legs, many are wondering whether this latest franchise iteration will pull out all the stops for its final map pack, Final Stand....

Built off of the improved Frostbite 2 engine - dubbed Frostbite 3 to indicate that it’s really next-gen ready - EA opted to only showcase a segment of Battlefield 4’s single-player campaign and reactions from attendees were mixed. Battlefield 3 was criticized for its linear, forgettable campaign that felt disconnected to the main game longtime fans cared about most: the multiplayer. EA’s objective in introducing its successor was to use the single-player to highlight a stronger narrative with fleshed out characters, while also showcasing how some of the multiplayer features found their way into the campaign, from ordering squad mates to using vehicles in micro sandboxes....

Thus far, the general consensus on Battlefield 4 appears to be one of a lackluster campaign, buffeted by an unsurprisingly rich and involving multiplayer suite. To say there has been some sizzling news coming from DICE in the last month about Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam may be an understatement, but at least fans can rest easy now that the add-on will launch on December 21 (December 22 for Europe). Steam on the other hand is showing a release date of December 18, which may be the three day advance access for pre-ordering it. The add-on will cost $15 for the PC and PS3 versions - or 1,200 Microsoft Points for the Xbox 360....

That’s something EA’s done a little too much so they’re taking efforts in letting Visceral Games do something different and have more time with their cops and robbers take on the Battlefield formula. Even thought it’s not their fault, Visceral Games can’t avoid questions and comparisons between Hardline and previous entries, and they even had to make the head-banging promise that Battlefield Hardline will “work” at launch. How they’re doing that is by involving the community and gaining feedback, something they already dabbled in last summer with a closed beta (watch our let’s play videos if the BF Hardline beta for more!...

Unfortunately for Battlefield Hardline, it appears that pressure was slightly too great on Xbox One, with gamers reporting connection problems on the platform. Electronic Arts acknowledged the issues on Twitter saying that the development team is looking into them and hopes to have them fixed as soon as possible. A later update from EA claimed the Xbox One problems were the result of a DDoS attack. Luckily, the Battlefield Hardline online problems aren’t nearly as prolific as Battlefield 4’s at launch, but this is no less troubling....

That’s why Visceral Games is taking extra care to make sure that Battlefield Hardline doesn’t suffer from Battlefield 4’s mistakes. Early in development, Visceral started soliciting select fans’ opinions, incorporating this feedback into the game’s ongoing production process. A multiplayer beta earlier this winter featured over six million players, and was extended when Visceral realized they needed more information to make Battlefield Hardline the best adrenaline-pumping, cops-versus-robber shooter possible....

It showed the white-gray mother cat inside a cardboard box nursing her two babies, while the ginger tom cat, later revealed to be a Persian chinchilla, peered in from a hole cut into the side of the box. “Better baby daddy than most humans. Santos wonderkid Neymar has confessed his admiration for Barcelona after seeing the Catalans demolish them in the Club World Cup final earlier today. Two goals from Messi and one a piece from Xavi and Fabregas was enough for Guardiola’s side as they outclassed Santos 4-0 on the night to lift the Club World Cup title. Much was being said of the contest between Neymar and Messi prior to the match but it was the Argentinean that came out on top as he inspired his team to an impressive rout of the Brazilian side....
