Luckily DICE’s Tommy Rydling has opened up with a few more details on what to expect from co-op, and how it will fit alongside the singleplayer component of Battlefield 3. While we already know that Battlefield 3 will only allow online co-op, not being able to play split-screen doesn’t mean that you and a friend can’t feel like you’re accomplishing a mission together, or that you’re both playing your way through a cohesive story line....
The answer, according to DICE executive producer Patrick Bach in an interview with Joystiq, is Frostbite 2. Other games are built on engines which are developed to be repackaged and licensed to other third party developers, but Frostbite 2 is built solely for the experience of Battlefield games. No doubt this means that what you get in Battlefield 3, you’re not going to be getting somewhere else. The playable demo at GDC 2011 is running on heavily beefed-up computers, which could mean that this gorgeous game isn’t going to be quite as gorgeous on consoles....
Although Battlefield 4 has yet to reach Chinese shores for retail, the country has already decided to ban the game. Specifically, they cite Battlefield 4’s China Rising DLC and the public perception the content creates as a major determining factor in the ban. As Techie News reports, not only has Battlefield 4 the game been banned in China, all related promotional materials have been banned as well. To put it bluntly, China has labeled the game as illegal on the grounds that it endangers national security and encourages cultural aggression....
Many players felt that Battlefield 3’s single player campaign was lacking while it was Battlefield 4’s performance issues that came under fire. From launch, BF4 has continued to face problems with its online multiplayer mode - problems so bad that EA shareholders took the publisher to court. Even so, Battlefield Hardline is not a proper Battlefield game, and therefore has its own inherent appeals and risks. Set against the backdrop of the US drug way, Hardline puts players into a cops vs. robbers scenario, played out in typical Battlefield fashion. For some, though, the prospect of a day one Battlefield purchase is not as exciting as it once was....
